El gobernador de Baja California, Kiko Vega, y el cónsul general de Guatemala, Erick Cardona Chávez, se reunieron en la ciudad de Tijuana.
Ello representa el primer acercamiento oficial entre ambas autoridades, a fin de estrechar la coordinación para impulsar temas de interés común y de beneficio para los bajacalifornianos y la comunidad guatemalteca que reside en la entidad.
En el encuentro realizada en la oficina del ejecutivo de esta ciudad, el Kiko expresó al diplomático la plena disposición para impulsar rubros como el turístico, ya que a partir de noviembre pasado existe un vuelo directo Tijuana-Guatemala, lo que se traduce en una oportunidad para el intercambio turístico.
Vega de Lamadrid resaltó la buena comunicación que ha existido en cuanto a los asuntos migratorios, pues en Baja California radican entre 2 mil y 2 mil 500 guatemaltecos, por lo que reiteró su cooperación para seguir con el apoyo en este tema.
En la reunión también estuvieron el director de Relaciones Internacionales del Gobierno del Estado, Mariano Escobedo Lavín; la Directora de Asuntos Binacionales, Heidy Salum Bermúdez y el Cónsul Adscrito, Carlos Oliva Calderón.
