Más de 300 etiquetas de vino de diferentes países se espera participen en el XXVI Concurso Internacional Ensenada Tierra del Vino 2018, el cual es organizado por la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), a través de la Escuela de Enología y Gastronomía (EEG).
Gracias a este evento que se llevará a cabo los días 18, 19 y 20 de mayo se estima importante derrama económica y ocupación hotelera de visitantes de distintos países.
Serán alrededor de 120 asistentes por día al evento, ya que además estarán participando 15 expositores y habrá conferencias de interés para todo el público con temas como tendencias actuales, uso de equipo y cambio climático, entre otros.
Se contará con la presencia de grupos académicos, gastronómicos, sommeliers y vinicultores que participan dentro de este concurso, entre ellos los 24 jueces de España, Chile, Estados Unidos, México, Argentina e Italia.
“Ensenada Tierra del Vino” permite enfocar la promoción de Ensenada como marca y darle mayor posicionamiento como destino a nivel mundial, toda vez que este municipio es la capital del vino mexicano al tener el 90% de la producción nacional con más de 300 empresas del ramo.
Por segunda ocasión la sede será en el Centro Social, Cívico y Cultural Riviera, al ser éste un ícono arquitectónico importante de Ensenada.
Se trata de una evaluación mayor a las 300 etiquetas de vino, la cual se realiza totalmente a ciegas, es decir quienes integren el jurado no sabrán la marca o el país de origen, pero sí la añada y otras características.
Es un proyecto serio que ahora se realiza de manera digital, en donde los jueces van anotando la calificación y a partir de ese momento no hay vuelta a atrás, ello gracias a una aplicación que en un tiempo de 15 minutos ya está arrojando resultados..
Asimismo se llevará a cabo el 7mo Coloquio del Vino, en donde habrá conferencias, talleres y exposiciones de arte y proveeduría relacionada con el tema, así como catas dirigidas a público en general, incluyendo personas con discapacidad visual y/o auditiva.

Del alumnado de Enología y Gastronomía se conforma un staff de al menos 100 personas, es decir 30 docentes y 70 estudiantes, quienes proveen el servicio y atención en el evento.
