El director de Seguridad Pública Municipal, Jorge Íñiguez Díaz dio a conocer que a las 12:24 horas oficiales se trasladaron al bulevar Costero y avenida Castillo, en donde una persona que se identificó como la denunciante les informó que momentos antes había brindado un servicio a un estadounidense que le pagó al parecer con dólares falsos.
La denunciante narró que cuando revisó los billetes con un marcador especial para detectar billetes apócrifos, un total de 16 billetes con denominación de 20 dólares no pasaron dicha prueba por lo que señaló a un individuo que se encontraba en el lugar como el que la transó.
Los agentes se identificaron y explicaron en el idioma inglés al individuo el motivo de su presencia, así como que era señalado por pagar un servicio con 16 billetes de 20 dólares que no pasaron la prueba del marcador.
La reportante les expresó su deseo de proceder legalmente en contra del individuo, motivo por el cual los uniformados colocaron candados de manos y dieron lectura de derechos a Michael N. de 25 años, quien junto con los billetes fue puesto a disposición de la Procuraduría General de la República.
